Stress Levels Can Monitor Health

Your health and stress levels are closely associated.

Stress could be defined as almost any change to your usual routine. Being made redundant from your job is stress, just as much as getting that promotion. The tragedy of losing a loved one can create stress just as much as the news of becoming pregnant can cause stress. No matter where you look or who you look at, usually you will see the signs of stress.

Hormone levels are the most noticeable of the chemical changes that occur within the body as a result of stress.

Fluctuating hormone levels can then in turn lead to further stress. This causes women a greater exposure to stress. Typical hormonal changes during puberty, the menstrual cycle, pregnancy and even the menopause can cause further stress in addition to the pressures of daily modern life.

Any of these occurrences can create difficulties in any woman’s life.

Many ailments people have are believed to be caused at least in some part by stress. It can be a contributing factor to anything from backaches to insomnia. Some people even believe that stress is related to the development of acne. Links between stress and acne have been suspected for many years and the relationship between hormones and stress goes a long way in explaining it.

The connection between stress and your health is the subject of continued scientific study. They have found that stress causes people to become more susceptible to colds because stress affects the immune system.

Basically, stress can be linked to many things, but not everything that you hear (like it being a total acne cure in itself) isn’t necessarily true. Simply put, stress may be linked directly or indirectly to many health issues.

No one ever totally eliminates stress from their lives, but there are things you can do to control stress.

Stress reduction techniques can cause long term health improvements. Choose to live a more healthy life for example. Eat the right things and engage in a little exercise. Believe it or not, this does help. You can also take a little “me” time for yourself. This is called: Relaxation!  Stop, sit down or take that long, hot bath and enjoy yourself for a change. Relaxation really does help to relieve the stress and can also be good for your health. When you relax, your heart rate slows down. So, those of you with high blood pressure - stop and relax for a change.

How do I relieve stress?

There are many ways that you can relieve stress, even if it is for a short period of time. Revisit an earlier hobby. Pick out a hobby or activity that you enjoy doing. It could be anything from basket weaving to painting or even sculpture. Your stress levels will drop noticeably because it is something that brings you pleasure. When people have their attention on something they enjoy they are not thinking about those subjects that are the source of stress. Their attention is on the activity at hand and this leads to lower stress levels.

Stress can reduce the quality of your lifestyle and be detrimental to your health. Take time out from the world, even if it is for only an hour.  If you do this, you will help to decrease your stress level and improve your health at the same time.
